Welcome to all present and former members of the
United States Marine Corps'
Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team

After a series of deadly attacks on Americans
in the 70's and 80's, the President issued a directive
to all branches of the military to enhance their
capabilities in the field of anti-terrorism.

The Marine Corps, responding to this directive, formed
two Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST)
Companies in 1987. The two companies were designated as FAST
Atlantic, which was at Norfolk, VA. and FAST Pacific
at Mare Island Naval Shipyard (MINSY) in Vallejo, CA.

FAST has seen many changes since 1987.
In 1993 FAST Pacific was deactivated and in 1998
2nd FAST was added. The Marine Corps has since formed
3rd FAST.

These companies are tasked with defending both
U.S. Navy and Marine Corps assets from terrorist
attack.

FAST Companies are equiped to perform short duration
security missions at the direction of the Chief of
Naval Operations. These companies are called on to
protect forces and installations when a heightened
security threat requires it.
